Munachim I. Uyanwune, M.D., MBA, is a board-certified psychiatrist treating patients at MIU Center in Timonium, Maryland. She holds dual degrees from the University of Connecticut, including a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in French. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Dr. Uyanwune obtained a combined M.D. and MBA degree after receiving a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut School of Business while enrolled at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
Dr. Uyanwune completed her Psychiatry residency training at the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt Psychiatry Residency Program. After her training, Dr. Uyanwune practiced at Sheppard Pratt Hospital for several years. She also worked in private practice, where she served in an executive role as chief medical officer, in addition to community mental health.
Dr. Uyanwune is the CEO and founder of MIU Center, a behavioral health clinic that provides medication and therapy treatment for clients via in-person and telepsychiatry services. MIU Center provides treatment for various behavioral health disorders, including depression, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, post-partum blues, and more.
In addition to her career, Dr. Uyanwune is deeply involved in her local community in Maryland. She serves individuals and families in under-served areas, primarily in Baltimore City, through the non-profit organization Uproar Care (UCare), which she has done for several years. Also, Dr. Uyanwune is a pillar in the Psychiatry community. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and Maryland Psychiatric Society. Dr. Uyanwune also serves on the American Psychiatric Association (APA) Center for Workplace Mental Health Advisory Council board member.
